I need an all-correct, original, unfired model-shop M1 for no more than $200.

How's that? :bsmile :bsmile ;)

I'm looking for a couple - a Model 66 3 inch or 4 inch (or Model 19), and a Remington Model 600 with the vent rib, in a .30 caliber or larger.

Project gun would be Okay.

What're y'all looking to get next ???

Doug

I think I saw an advertisement for Shooter grade garands for 500-600 awhile back I'll see if I can dig it up for youins.

i have been thinking about getting a Schmidt Rubin K-31 to turn into a frankenstien.. Maybe cut the barrel down to 18" and put a scope on it..

Doug check with J&G sales. They have S&W LE turn in revolvers.

I bought one a year or so ago, and it was n fairly good shape ovr all, with an excellent bore, after my gunsmith got done it was like brand new..

This thread reminds me......

Years ago, probably 20 or more now, I was at my grandparent's house. Grandpa walks up with a clear plastic box full of gun parts. I asked him what was in there.

Lo and behold, it's a 1911, stripped down to the smallest part. Even the finish was gone. Don't remember now whether or not the finish was stripped off on purpose, or it was just that worn out.

I tried and tried to put it all back together, to get an idea of what it would've looked like complete. Thinking back, it was an epic fail on my part, assuming a 10 year old kid could reassemble a handgun he'd never put his hands on before.

He, rather wisely IMO, sold it all off, thinking I might get the idea that it would make a cool thing to take to school for "show and tell". I swear he had a sixth sense about stuff like that, not wanting me to get in any trouble.

I think about that every once in a while.

I'd love to find another box like that, full of rusty, dusty parts, and reassemble it back into a functional weapon. I can't recall the number of times I've scoured pawn shops, yard sales, and the like, trying to find another project like that, something that someone didn't have the time, knowledge, or ambition to finish.

I got to shoot them, before the '60.

Great, reliable, no serious maintenance, two cyclic rates to choose from and they shot a real round.

The >30-'06.

I look at their site quite often, they do have some neat stuff, no doubt there, but they are pretty proud of a lot of it.

Take, for instance, their price on 1919a4 parts kits. ;)

Machine gun kits always see expensive for what they are IMHO.. copes disributing and Model 1 sales also has alot of surplus macine gun, rifle, and SMG kits. So does Center Fire systems here in kentucky. I like the guys who run that place, they always treat a custmer good face to face.

I think Sarco has a good deal on M-59 parts kits.. It is hit and miss with them... but sometimes thy will knock it out of the park.. I have spanish 9mm largo destroyer carbine, they sold me 20 clips for it for almost nothing at all.. they had a good deal on surplus 9mm largo pistols and ammo too..

Have you ever considered building a WWII MG like a civilian legal sten? They are cheap to build and feed.

Its what they dont put on th web that will get you all hot and bothered with Sarco.

but I agree they are kinda proud of it, but they got it, in three diferent kinds. aside fom them would be numrich, but they are even more proud o some of their stuff then Sarco.

There is other places for even more hard to find stuff, but they are also kind of expensive because they know they are the only ones who got it.

I have gotten alot stuff at yard sales that I never though I'd find there, the a cuple weeks ago I found a first generation burris fastfire in the box for 30$. The mount screw is alittle buggered up an the adjustment screw driver didnt come with, but still that was a hell of a deal.

Does Sarco put out a print catalog? All I ever see from them, printed, is Shotgun News ads. It's been a while on that, the newest SGN I have is April 7, 2003. That's why I made the comment about their 1919 parts, back then they were $295, now they're $650.

A while back, I emailed MG Dave @ Sarco, asking about sub-grade 3 M2HB parts. Never heard back. That's when I was looking to build a display piece for the back of my Jeep. I was looking for what would basically be unusable, rusty, pitted parts, and the selection on GB, while decent, is way higher priced that I would even consider paying for demilled parts.

I might email Dave again.

Doug was right, I am a cheap prick. :bsmile

I cringe every time I consider buying factory ammo, period. :bsmile ;)

What blows my mind is people wanting $1 per bullet for old .30cal M2 AP. I'm not talking loaded ammo, just the bullet. A buck a bullet! I can remember not too long ago paying around $10/100 for them online, and I can fondly remember paying the princely sum of $3.00 for a beer flat overflowing with loaded AP.

I know there is no way that ammo costs nearly what they are chargeing Just to manufacture it... We are n a worldwide recession... minerals are at rock bottom.

Bastards have learned a few tricks from the oil conglomerates.

Yeah I know.

I just don't have any money.

Everything is going into the move to Montana, for now.

I'd love to have it.
